Yun Chen is a doctoral student in the Joint Program in Social Work and Anthropology at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Before starting her doctoral training, she obtained her MSW with a concentration in social administration from the University of Chicago in 2015, and studied social work as an undergraduate student in Xiamen University (China) between 2008 and 2012. She also worked as a research assistant during 2016-2017 in the US and China on projects regarding mental health services for Asian immigrants and Chinese families.
Yun’s overall research interest is around the professionalization and localization of social work in China and beyond, with specific areas of focus in community-based mental health care and (im)migration services. She has been involved in research projects about culturally-infused practices in those areas in both China and the US.
