Stephen Berkemeier is an MSW student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. He also received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Stephen’s Honors Thesis project explored the relationship between adherence to masculine norms and attitudes regarding male victims of sexual assault.
Stephen’s research interests focus on the effects of masculinity on the psychosocial experiences of both men and women; exploring the advantages and disadvantages of adhering to various masculine norms, within a plethora of cultural contexts. In particular, Stephen wishes to study the impact that various perceptions of masculinity have on the experiences and recovery of male victims of sexual assault.
