Janelle R. Goodwill is a PhD student in the Joint-program in Social Work and Psychology at the University of Michigan. Her work focuses primarily on black men’s experiences with mental health, with specific interest in studying issues related to depression and suicidality. In exploring these topics, Janelle plans to debunk myths typically associated with mental health among underserved populations and communities of color.
Janelle earned her BA in psychology from Michigan State University and her MSW from the University of Michigan. Aside from her previous work with the Washtenaw Prisoner Reentry (a program which aids persons with felony backgrounds in their transition back into society post-incarceration), Janelle also has experience in student affairs and development at the university level.
